Paper 1 Revision: Add Introduction Paragraph

The American Dream is the idea that anyone can have a better life if they work hard and never give up. In the past, it meant owning a home, having money, and moving up in life. Today, it also includes getting a good education, having fair chances, and feeling happy. “In Immigrant Perspectives: The American Dream, many immigrants say their dream is to give their children a better life, not just to make money. Entrepreneurs like Elena Tarasov, Sthoshi Nakajima, Manny Medina, Francis Duong, and Valentina Violas Bello show how the American dream is still alive today. A Brief History of Immigration in the U.S”. shows that many immigrants have chased this dream throughout history. For example, in the 1800s, European people came to America looking for jobs and a fresh start. However, not everyone was welcomed the same way, as some groups, like the Irish and Chinese, faced discrimination. Over time, the idea of the American Dream has changed, but it still represents hope and the chance for a better future.

Introduction (Statistic Method):

Did you know that over 45 million people in the United States today are immigrants, making up about 13.7% of the total population? Throughout history, people from all over the world have come to America in search of a better life, hoping to achieve what is known as the American Dream. Traditionally, this dream meant owning a home, having financial success, and improving one’s social status. However, the American Dream has evolved—it now includes access to education, equal opportunities, and personal happiness. As seen in Immigrant Perspectives: The American Dream, many immigrants today work hard not just for themselves, but to provide a better future for their children. Despite challenges such as discrimination and economic hardship, the American Dream continues to represent hope and opportunity for those willing to pursue it.
