The
American Dreams and Growth Mindset
The[LC2] [LC3] American Dream is the idea that
anyone can be successful if they work hard[N4] .
In the past, it meant owning a home, having money, and moving up in life.
Today, it also includes getting a good education, having fair chances, and
feeling happy. In the video, Immigrant Perspectives:
The American Dream by Geekwire, , many
immigrants say their dream is to give their children a better life, not just to
make money. Entrepreneurs like Elena Tarasov, Sthoshi Nakajima, Manny
Medina, Francis Duong, and Valentina Violas
Bello show how the American dream is still alive today. “A Brief History of Immigration in the U.S.”.
by
Teaching Tolerance shows that different groups of immigrants have
changed the dream over time. The American Dream is always changing to fit new
challenges.
Reyna Grande’s family in The Distance Between Us[N5]
shows the sacrifices people make for the American Dream. [LC6] The
Grande family (Mother
and father) [N7] left
Mexico because they were poor and hoped for a better life in the United States.
They wanted higher wages and better homes. But leaving also meant being away
from their children, which was very hard. Some people think Reyna’s parents
should have stayed, but others believe they had to leave to give their children
a better future. Their experience shows that achieving the American dream is
not always easy.
Many
immigrants, including my family, have made hard choices for a better life. We
moved for better jobs, education, and a safe life. But, unlike Reyna’s family,
we stayed together, which made things easier. A growth mindset helps people
reach the American Dream[N8] .
Some people give up when things are hard, but a growth mindset helps them keep trying[N9] .
The
Distance Between Us shows that success takes time and effort[LC10] . This idea has helped me work hard
and stay focused on my goals, even when moving to a new place was difficult.
CConclusion,
[N11] tThe
American Dream is different for everyone and changes over time. In the past, it
meant making money, but now it also means having a safe life, good chances, and
growing as a person. Reyna Grande’s story and other immigrant stories show the
hard choices people make for this dream. From history and personal stories, we
see that hard work and flexibility help people reach the American Dream today.
