10 Reflection: Describe your most challenging moments in this class

one of the most challenging moments in this class was writing my first essay. At the beginning, I felt nervous and unsure about organizing my idea. I didn't know how to write a strong introduction or a clear thesis statement. I didn't know how to build up body paragraph or the style of conclusion, but I remember the growth mindset idea that mistakes are part of learning. I told myself that every great writer starts as a beginner. So, I asked my teacher, Esther Lee, and Tutor Loisa Chen for help, and I spent extra time reviewing my drafts. After practicing,  I started to feel more confident.

Another challenge was speaking and sharing my writing during peer review. I was afraid of being judged for my grammar or ideas. But instead of staying quiet, I reminded myself that feedback is a way to grow. I listened to carefully to my classmates and tutor, and teacher Lee, suggestions and used their advice to improve my writing. This helped me become more open and less afraid of making errors

Now, I see writing in English as a skill I can keep improving, not something to fear. I know that writing takes time, and it is okay to make mistakes. I feel proud of how far I have come, and I believe I can become an even better writer with practice and a positive mindset..

Answer

1. Challenging Moment and Growth Mindset: In this class, one of the most challenging moments was writing my first academic paper. I had problem with organizing my ideas clearly and using correct grammar. However, I used a growth mindset by reminding myself that I can improve with practice. I got appointment with tutor Louisa and tell to her Teacher Lee feedback comments her helped and revise my draft. Another challenge was MLA formatting. I didn’t understand how to cite sources correctly at first, but I asked Miss Lee and Louisa for help. I didn’t give up, and now I feel more confident.

2. Low-stakes writing Assignment:

The quotation sandwich activity helped me grow the most as a writer. That taught me how to introduce, describe, and connect quotes to my ideas. It helped me develop my essay and made me write clearly.

3. Growth from Paper 1 to now:

Before starting to Amla 80 class, I was having trouble with writing strong topic sentences and thesis statements, and clear conclusions. I was unsure how to use my ideas with evidence. Now, I have learned how to write a clear paragraph with good analysis. My writing confidence improved through this class and with my teacher, Esther Lee.

4. Helpful Activities/Assignments:

I think Peer reviews have helped me a lot because I could see different writing styles and learn from my classmates. As well as doing grammar practice, learning how to fix run-on sentences improved my writing skills. I have never learned the types of introduction paragraphs and the types of conclusion paragraphs. I have learned those in this class.

5. Learning from Peers:

My classmates helped me a lot. They gave me amazing feedback about my papers 1 and 2. They gave me ideas and pointed out my grammar points. I also learned new vocabulary from reading their papers.

6. All the classmates helped me develop my writing skills. Especially my teacher Esther Lee advice and tutor Loisa advice helped me develop towards my goal. They helped me organize my ideas for paper 2. Their support made me feel much confident and pushed me to keep improving.

7. Growth Mindset Plan for Amla 90:

I am going to keep practicing writing more articles and writing summaries to prepare for AMLA 90. I will review more grammar rules weekly. I planned to go and get tutoring to help me. I want to keep a journal to track my progress and reflect on what I learn.

 8. Advice for new students and teacher:

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is teacher, tutor and classmates to support you.

You have to start assignments early and revise them more than once.

Please pay more attention teacher feedback and use it to make your writing better.

The Distance Between Us

9.Most moving Part of the Memoir:

Reyna’s parents left her in Mexico. It was the part of that moved me the most. It was very sad because she felt alone and hurt. Even though it was hard, she stayed strong and kept going. Her story inspired me because she didn’t give up. It shows that if we work hard and don’t lose hope, we can get through hard times. She never gives up, even when life was unfair. It reminds me that with hard work and hope, we can overcome many obstacles. She was a nice determination.
